As Head of Emerging Markets, Edward leads the firm’s strategic efforts in advising high-growth AfriTech and IndiaTech businesses on M&A and fundraising, leveraging his deep market expertise and extensive industry network to drive growth and create long-term value.

Prior to joining ICON, Edward was the Founder & CEO of I&M Burbidge Capital, a leading Nairobi-based corporate finance advisory firm specialising in M&A and fundraising services across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Edward began his career in London in Equity Capital Markets (ECM) before relocating to Nairobi in 2010 to establish Burbidge Capital. In 2016, he sold a 65% stake to I&M Group, a premier East African banking institution. Under his leadership, I&M Burbidge Capital grew to become one of the most active investment banking firms in the region, successfully advising on over 50 investment banking mandates focused on capital raising and M&A.

Beyond transactional success, Edward has been instrumental in fostering market development across Africa and facilitating early capital flows between India and Africa. In recent years, his work has increasingly concentrated on climate and social impact deals, reflecting his commitment to sustainable finance initiatives.
